It's no supprise therefore to discover that they have a fantastic pond at their Peterborough home and Matt has been kind enough to send in some photos and some details of the pond and garden to share with everyone.

The results you see here are in fact the result of many years of digging and improving, with the current pond being the 3rd, and final, reincarnation being completed 1990 after 9 years of on and off digging (you can’t eat a good pig all at once).

Matt & Lynnette's Stunning 10,000 Gallon Koi Pon

The pond holds 10,200 galls including the filters and is 6ft deep around the edge going down to 9ft in the centre where the single 4 inch bottom drain is located. The pond has a ledge which is approx 2ft 6inch deep as well as an adjustable homemade skimmer.

The filter`s are located under the summer house in the position of an old pond and incorporate 2 pre filter`s with overflow to waste, a 6ft diameter 5ft deep homemade vortex, a settlement chamber that is 8ft x 2ft, a mechanical chamber of jap matting that is 4ft x 3ft and a Bio filter of 2ft x 6ft filled with plastic ring media.

The filtration is run buy 2 submersible pumps, 1 central heating pump and flows through 2 150 watt uv`s1, a Trickle filter 3x2 with k1, veg filter 6x5, 1 sieve returning through waterfall. 2 air pumps.

The main pond holds 54 fish that are up to 32 inches in length.

There is another, smaller quarantine pond of 750 galls that holds 7 fish.

This is constructed with a reinforced concrete base, walls made of 18x9 concrete blocks before being covered with a cement render that includes fibromix before being finsihed with 3 coats of waterglass.
