The biggest change has been made since the completion of the small growing on pond in the greenhouse, we discovered very quickly that when it’s chucking down with rain outside there’s not much better than still being able to see and feed your fish in the warm and dry, and so the decision has been made to erect a 12m x 5.8m conservatory across the entire face of the building you see in the picture above to completely enclose the pond and enable us to have year round enjoyment of the fish without the need to heat.
I decided early on that I’d keep all the details to myself until we started to build simply so that when I did post it all, I was posting the final details and not something that would change, but as is the koi world (small) it seems that a lot of people knew details of my new pond before I did lol
So, the final spec:
30x14x8 = 21000 gallons
2 x 5.5 mtr long block builts incorporating full length settlements and 300lts of K3 and 25 sheets of JapMat within the bio return = 5000 gallons
2 x Wide Mouth skimmers
2 x Ultra Sieve III (with lids lol)
2 x Richdon Koi aerated drains
2 x 110watt TMC UV’s
4 x Optimax 10,000
2 x Aquamax 16,000
4 x Airtech 120’s
One thing I do want to do though is thank to Richard and Donna of Richdon Koi, you would not believe the amount of phone calls, emails, pm’s etc that they’ve dealt with from me, the amount of time they’ve given up to help me get the design and layout of everything correct, as well as answering all my, at times, quite silly questions.
All this help, along with all the help and advice I’ve received from them over the years is the reason I trust them completely with my fish and the one of the main reasons I bought ALL my stuff from them, if you take up your dealer’s time asking questions and having your pond designed by them, at least do the right thing and buy your stuff from them, their time costs them money at the end of the day!
