2009 Photo Show Awards
The winners prizes for this years competition were once again kindly donated by Tetra, this support ensured that all the winning entrants walked away with large bags of Tetra's Koi Excellence Wheatgerm food.
This year saw a change in both the owner and the winning koi for the title of Grand Champion, this year saw Iain and Sally take the award with their 80cm Richdon Koi supplied Kohaku.
Every year seems to throw up at least one outstanding / interesting point of note, but this year was slightly different with a few things shouting for attention.
The first point of interest was that every single entrant in the photo show had at least one of their koi in the award places showing that the quality of the koi entered was of a very high standard (even if some of the members thought their own fish weren't!).
The second point that was really nice to see for all involved was that one of our newer members, Martyn and Sue, took first place awards with all of the fish they entered, congratulations on a 100% acheivement.
This year, in memory of Sat Sahota, saw the introduction of a new award and class in our photo show. The Sat Sahota Memorial Award is to be awarded each year to a 'novice champion'. The award is open to club members that have not previously won a major award in the annual show, and encourages entrants that may feel they cannot compete for the other awards.
And on the note of Judges, we'd like to extend our thanks to Christine Woolger who not only took on the task of judging this years event, but also took time out of her own personal schedule to personally visit each and every members pond to see the fish first hand.
Sizes as normal for our photo show were:
Size 1 - Under 16”
Size 2 - 16” – 20”
Size 3 - 20” – 24”
Size 4 - Over 24”
